Jason Wilkerson
The owner and senior instructor of Yoga Tribe, established May 2003. Jason was born in Huntington Beach, California. He graduated from USC in 1992 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in entrepreneurship.
He began practicing Bikram Yoga in 1995 in San Francisco. He is a certified Bikram Method hatha yoga instructor graduating from Bikram’s Yoga College of India 500 Hour Teacher Training in 1996 and from Bikram’s advanced training course in 1997 and 1998.
In 2003, with the financial and spiritual backing of his late mother, Cindy, Jason opened Yoga Tribe and created the Hot Yoga series. In this sequence, you will find postures incorporated from different styles of Hatha Yoga set to soothing yet energetic music.
Jason is an E-YRT 500 and leads Yoga Tribe's 200 Hour Hot Yoga Teacher Training Program. Jason served as the Director of Bikram’s Yoga College of India in San Francisco during the late 1990′s as well taught in numerous Bikram Yoga studios in the Bay Area for 7 years before opening Yoga Tribe in 2003.
In March 2010, Jason undergone a spinal infusion surgery to correct a condition called spondylothesis performed by Dr. Jeffrey Deckey. Hot Yoga has been the foundation to his recovery as it has allowed him to live pain free. Through this experience he has been able to help many students who suffer with back pain.
His formidable years stem from learning and teaching with Bikram’s senior instructors in San Francisco. His teachings are inspired by his San Francisco based yoga instructors including the late David Houck, Stephanie Schreiber, Kim Schreiber Morrison and Mary Jarvis. He is grateful as each one of them lives in his teachings.
He is well versed with technique, alignment, and progression of the Hot Yoga series yet understands and teaches the mental and emotional aspects to the yoga practice. He pays great attention to detail. He has excellent observational skills and intuitively helps people understand the series through hands-on adjustments.
